Captive Insurance Management

Jim Clemons
Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer

Jim Clemons concentrates his practice in the areas of financial services, commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, and general corporate matters. The bulk of his practice is spent advising various types of entities on the formation and operation of captive insurance companies, with an emphasis on risk retention group issues. Jim has extensive experience with insurance company conversions, including demutualizations, mutual holding company formations, and reciprocal conversions. He also represents business entities on commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, as well as contract and financing issues. His banking practice includes advising Vermont banks on state and federal regulatory issues and working with national mortgage lenders on captive insurance programs.

Jim graduated cum laude from Williams College in 1974 and magna cum laude from Vermont Law School in 1991. Following law school, he served as Law Clerk to Chief Justice Frederic W. Allen of the Vermont Supreme Court and was admitted to the Vermont Bar in 1992. He joined the firm in 1992 and became a Shareholder in 1995.

Bob joined Chartis in June 2002 and is responsible for the day-to-day management of AIU’s domestic captive operations. He was previously a senior manager in the insurance practice of KPMG where he provided audit and consulting service to clients throughout the Northeast.  Bob has had a broad exposure to the insurance industry, working in the Philadelphia, Bermuda and South Carolina office of KPMG. 

During his twelve years in the industry he has worked with many primary insurers, and major reinsurers as well as captives and risk retention groups.  In addition to the management of existing clients, Bob is actively involved in the marketing and formation of new captive insurance companies.

Bob is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has also obtained the Associate in Reinsurance designation from the Insurance Institute of America.

Peter Lang
K Plus, Inc.


Peter Lang is the President of K Plus, Inc, the retirement consulting firm he founded twelve years ago. Peter has thirty-five years of pension experience. His first twenty-three years were spent with the group pension departments of Prudential and CIGNA.

He is an independent 401(k) consultant with extensive expertise with Investment Contracts and Mutual Funds. Peter is also a Communications Specialist. He has conducted over 2500 401(k) and investment education meetings in 28 states. He publishes the quarterly K Plus Informer newsletter.

Peter has worked with 401(k)s since they first started in the early 1980s. He established 401(k) plans for companies such as Gibson Greeting Card, Proctor Silex, Weichert Realtors, and Simmons Mattress Co. I’ve worked with Peter for the past twelve years and we are very pleased to offer his knowledge and expertise for the benefit of our members.

Linda Niedweske has concentrated her law practice on the prevention of employment-related disputes.

She regularly advises corporate clients on the benefits of pro-active, rather than reactive, management and lectures to their managers and employees. Ms. Niedweske has also conducted lectures and held seminars for such organizations as the Society For Human Resource Managers, Lorman Educational Services, the Employment Law Council, the New Jersey Medical Society, and New Jersey Trial Lawyers Association.

Ms. Niedweske has written numerous articles for the Employment Law Council newsletters, Labor Law Updates, the New Jersey Medical Society Journal, and the New Jersey Law Journal.

Linda graduated from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts in 1988. She is admitted to the New Jersey State and Federal Bars.
